Air Warfare

The Air Warfare group plans, observes, and analyzes tests of the newest military aircraft and weapons.  We regularly go to the test ranges to observe 5th-generation fighters in action, to understand what their advanced capabilities bring to the battlefield.  We also participate in tests of the newest generations of missiles and bombs, and examine data from both live-fire tests against surrogate targets and high-fidelity hardware-in-the-loop simulations.  In test events involving larger multi-seat aircraft, we observe the tests onboard the aircraft themselves.  These observations of live tests are a key component of our analysis of test results.  Watching live tests, and understanding the decisions that the aircrews make, brings an important perspective to our analyses of the test data.
