This document provides a partial survey of relatively recent research efforts reported in the literature in the area of automated source code generation (ASCG) using methods from artificial intelligence (AI) in general and machine learning (ML) in particular. The work was motivated by the fact that the Army has “identified the need to reduce costs and delivery time across the enterprise related to software generation, access, management, and sustainment.”
