In many ways, the Department of Defense (DoD) resembles an economy with many heterogeneous integrated markets. Inaccurate pricing among these markets causes inefficiencies in total force mix management. This presentation focuses on inefficiencies in the management of the DoD’s medical community, which we attribute to the lack of visibility into the full cost of military medical personnel.
