The Department of Defense uses military hospitals to maintain the clinical skills of military medical personnel for readiness. Concerns over the high cost and readiness value of these facilities has led to significant changes directed in the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act. This report provides presents management reforms that could improve the cost efficiency and readiness value of military hospitals consistent with Congress’s direction.
