On October 22 and 23, 2013, IDA and a Kenyan think tank cooperated in holding a roundtable conference for business leaders from the East Africa region on the evolving business environment and the prospects for regional integration. The meeting included participants from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Ethiopia. The evolving business environment was discussed on the basis of the results of internationally recognized indices related to business, competitiveness, and corruption. The business environment was viewed in relatively positive terms. In addition, the conferees discussed East African integration and the role of China in Africa.
