Internet Protocol (IP) communication is widely understood among the cybersecurity community, whereas expertise and available test tools for non-IP protocols, such as Controller Area Network (CAN) and MIL-STD-1553, are not as common. In this presentation, we provide a live demonstration of how to attack a CAN network using malicious message injection. We also discuss how potential cyber effects on non-IP buses can lead to catastrophic mission effects to the target system.
