The 2017 Larry D. Welch Award winner for best external publication was “Effectiveness of Intelligent Tutoring Systems: A Meta-Analytic Review,” published in Review of Educational Research by IDA researcher J. D. Fletcher and James A. Kulik. Both had long been interested in applying the successful model of individual tutoring to students in classrooms.
