The Allied Medical Publication-7.5 describes NATO’s methodology for estimating casualties of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear agents. IDA examined the feasibility of incorporating synergistic combined nuclear effects into the next iteration of the publication. After describing the current, non-synergistic approach to combining effects in the nuclear methodology, IDA researchers determined that none of three broad alternatives for developing a synergistic methodology could be used to develop a synergistic methodology at this time. A fourth approach might be used, but would be difficult to conduct and would likely be time-consuming.
