The Indo-Pacific portfolio provides the Department of Defense (DOD) and wider U.S. government agencies with critical insights on this dynamic and diverse region by leveraging its experts’ government, military and academic experience. The GDI Indo-Pacific portfolio develops advanced analytical methods to help sponsors assess the impact of policy, operations and strategy. GDI researchers have in-depth knowledge of Chinese and North Korean decision-making and calculus, and are adept at helping sponsors engage with allies and partners to advance DOD and U.S. government priorities in the region.
Eurasia
The Eurasia portfolio experts provide in-depth analysis and wargaming support on strategic and operational developments across the Eurasian landmass, with particular focus on Russia, Iran, Central Asia, transatlantic security issues, and the broader Middle East. With decades of direct, in-country experience and study of primary sources, our researchers provide unique insights into adversary decision-making, geostrategic developments, and foreign military capabilities and operations. GDI research on Eurasia has informed and shaped the plans and policies of the U.S. Defense Department and the broader U.S. national security community with respect both to unilateral initiatives and to combined efforts with allies and partners.
Global Coverage
GDI provides extensive expertise on transnational threats and organized crime as described in the Defense Department’s priorities, including terrorism, threat financing, trafficking and illicit networks. We provide important strategic context for a range of threats in our support to homeland defense. We are thought leaders in understanding the socioeconomic and geopolitical dimensions of U.S. national security and provide these insights to the DOD and interagency partners in support of their missions. We understand the strategic importance of allies and partners and the role they play in achieving U.S. national security objectives, near and abroad.
Intelligence and Security
Intelligence and Security (I&S) portfolio researchers have spent large portions of their professional careers working in and ensuring the success of missions within the defense intelligence enterprise, the defense security enterprise, and, more broadly in scope, the U.S. Intelligence Community. From complex defense intelligence enterprise-wide evaluations, to more focused studies on particular collection capabilities, our research provides critical insight, rigorous analyses and well-informed recommendations crucial to achieving the Defense Department’s and other sponsors’ highest priorities.
