Science and Technology Policy Institute (STPI)
Located just a short walk from the White House in downtown Washington, DC, IDA’s Science and Technology Policy Institute (STPI) provides rigorous and objective analysis for the formulation of national science and technology (S&T) policy, supporting the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), the National Science Foundation, the National Science Board, and other offices and councils within the executive branch of the federal government. With its broad science and technology charter, STPI has a staff whose backgrounds are distributed across the spectrum of scientific disciplines, with a primary focus on serving the research needs of the President's Science Advisor and his staff, as well as the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).
IDA STPI provides rigorous, high-quality research to its sponsors in a variety of areas.
In its role providing expert technical and analytic support to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and a growing number of other government organizations, STPI addresses S&T issues in a wide range of areas.
STPI does a wide range of work for our government sponsors, including evaluation of programs, identification of best practices, and analysis of policy options.
Our Research Staff
The STPI Research staff is made up of experts in numerous S&T fields ranging from engineering and statistics to the natural, physical, and social sciences.
IDA STPI's mission is to provide timely and authoritative analysis of significant science and technology.
