IDA helped CAPE examine the relative ROI of two large Program Budget Review proposals using the F-35 model

The queenBee model is designed to capture a detailed representation of the F/A-18E/F and EA-18G fleets and their sustainment system, assisting the PMA-265 in achieving readiness outcomes. The model includes NIINHOF-level metrics calculated from raw Navy maintenance and supply data, a detailed Organization-Intermediate-Depot (O-I-D) supply system, and explicit modeling of weapons replaceable assemblies (WRAs) and shop replaceable assemblies (SRAs). It is IDA’s first and most mature naval aviation sustainment model.

Sales and Operations Planning focuses on identifying and prioritizing key spares that drive most of NAVSUP’s support to the fleet.

All NIINs are subdivided into categories based on sales value and forecast ability of demand. We used a “time machine” on our data pipeline to roll back to a previous date and compare actual outcomes to S&OP procedural outcomes. Using only the data available at the begging of FY20, S&OP is able to place orders that out-perform the historical orders despite us enforcing a variety of pessimistic assumptions. The logic leads to improved finances while not increasing the overall number of backorders.
