STPI Director’s Article Published in Air Force Magazine

Air Force Magazine LogoSTPI Director Mark Lewis’s article “Hypersonic Weapons Come of Age” was published in the March 2016 issue of Air Force Magazine. Dr. Lewis describes the promise of nearly unstoppable high-speed weapons – traveling at almost five times the speed of sound – that could strike quickly at targets deep within an enemy’s territory.



IDA Receives Excellence in Enterprise Information Award from AFEI

AFEI Award Presentation to IDA's ITSD teamIDA's Automated Information Triage for Rapid Decision Making project earned the 2015 Association for Enterprise Information award for Excellence in Enterprise Information. Each year the program recognizes the contributions made by government and business organizations towards achieving greater efficiency and effectiveness in the application of technology to improve business and operational performance.

IDA’s multidisciplinary team developed innovative uses of advances in text and discovery analytics, using supervised machine learning and natural language processing techniques, to analyze massive amounts of documents and information for the DoD CIO. By combining information triage principles with text analytics and exploratory data analysis techniques, IDA has created a rapid information triage capability for collecting, filtering, and prioritizing information to accelerate the time between relevant data analysis to decision making.
