IDA Receives Excellence in Enterprise Information Award from AFEI

Badge Program to Boost Open Source Security Launched

IDA Researchers Discuss Cybersecurity and Shifting Borders in New York City

IDA Researcher Elected NAI Fellow

The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) LogoThe National Academy of Inventors (NAI) Fellows Selection Committee elected ITSD’s Doug Birdwell to the rank of NAI Fellow. He was selected for his “highly prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development, and the welfare of society.” Dr. Birdwell was inducted at a ceremony at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in April 2016.



Program Vulnerability Found by IDA

Network Time Protocol (NTP) softwareITSD's Doug Birdwell found a vulnerability in the Network Time Protocol (NTP) software widely used across the Internet. What is especially interesting is the way he found it: he used a “network extension” he created for the fuzzing tool called American Fuzzy Lop (AFL). More…







IDA and DHS Produce First-of-Its-Kind Cyber Event

IDA Cyber Workforce SummitIn conjunction with the DHS Cyberskills Management Support Initiative (CMSI) and DHS Science and Technology Directorate, IDA hosted a unique-to-IDA Cyber Workforce Summit. ITSD Assistant Director and cybersecurity subject matter expert David Mussington organized the event and recruited the IDA and CFR panelists. IDA Researchers' Work on Open-Source Software Publicly Released

Core Infrastructure Initiative Analysis ProgramThe “Census Project” work by ITSD’s David A. Wheeler and Samir Khakimov was publicly released in 2015. This work for the Department of Homeland Security Homeland Open Security Technology (HOST) program and the Linux Foundation Core Infrastructure Initiative (CII) uses quantitative measures to help identify open source software (OSS) that most needs security investment.
