IDA Researcher Featured in Diversity In Action Magazine

SFRD’s Kathleen Conley was featured in the November/December issue of Diversity in Action magazine in an article focused on Veterans in STEM. Diversity in Action is a publication dedicated to advocating for diverse STEM professionals and students.






IDA's Korea Expert in Washington Post Video Interview

IDA Researcher Kongdan (Katy) Oh HassigSFRD’s Katy Oh Hassig provided her expert commentary on North Korea’s testing of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles at an unprecedented rate since Kim Jong Un came into power – while the country is under some of the toughest sanctions ever. The interview was conducted by Jason Aldag, Foreign & National Security Video Editor at the Washington Post.  Other commenters included Rep. Ed Royce of California, Scott Snyder of the Council on Foreign Relations, and Sharon Squassoni of the Center for Strategic and International Studies.





IDA Management Comments on Executive Office Transition

David S. ChuIDA President David S.C. Chu, is assisting the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) in their efforts to prepare for the administration transition.  He offers his commentary on the process in NAPA’s Political Appointee Project – having already participated in six transitions (as he points out “symmetrically, three in, three out).  In addition, Dr. Chu and SFRD Director Mike Dominguez discussed the DoD transition specifically in a recent online article in FCW.





STPI Study Makes Headlines

Science and Technology Policy InstituteAn ongoing study by a STPI team was briefed at an FAA Industry Day event and cited in a recent SpaceNews article – “FAA Estimates Space Traffic Management Costs at Under $100 Million.”  The IDA publication that was cited is NSP-P-8038, Evaluating Options for Civil Space Situational Awareness (SSA).



IDA Researchers Win Best Paper Award

ITSD’s Randy SimpsonA paper by the ITSD team of Randy Simpson and Kevin Foltz – Simplified Key Management for Digital Access Control of Information Objects – was named best paper of the 2016 International Conference of Information Security and Internet Engineering. Their paper was selected based on the reviewer reports and the evaluation score results of the conference committee members during the conference period.  This is the 11th award for Dr. Simpson and his team (Dr. Foltz and former ITSD Research Staff Member Sekar Chandersekaran).

 






CCR Analyst’s Report Published by AFSB

IDA Analyst Dr. Ryan “Skip” Garibaldi (Center for Communications Research – La Jolla) co-wrote the report “Utility of Quantum Systems for the Air Force,” an FY2016 study by the USAF Scientific Advisory Board.  The report has been approved for release, although it is FOUO and not yet on DTIC. The unclassified summary is available on the AFSAB website.
