Position:  Test and Evaluation Research and Analysis
Description

The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Department of Homeland Security, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.

Primary Responsibilities

Challenging career opportunities now exist at Cost Analysis and Research Division (CARD) - Test and Evaluation Group at IDA in Test and Evaluation Research and Analysis. Highly qualified individuals are sought who can:

  • Investigate the test and evaluation infrastructure, T&E methods and processes, and range modernization implications to support emerging weapon systems and advances in technology.
  • Conduct research into improved methods for estimating the investment costs of acquisition of new T&E instrumentation and modernization of existing capabilities.
  • Conduct research into the improving the use of modeling and simulation within developmental and operational test and evaluation.
  • Conduct research on the evolving encroachment and other constraints restricting existing and forecasted test mission support at the DoD test ranges and centers.
  • Provide management consulting service to assist DoD senior managers in (1) improving the strategic planning for out-year T&E needs and (2) improving management of the Department’s vast T&E infrastructure.  
  • Serve as project manager for complex studies involving T&E methods and processes, cost analysis, specific technology impacts on T&E, proposed Service and other Defense Agency investment proposals for modernization, analysis of Service modernization plans, and budgets.
Requirements
  • A successful candidate will have an advanced degree in engineering, operations research, physical sciences, modeling and simulation , computer sciences and significant direct experience in areas listed above. 
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearances.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
