Position:  HR Helpdesk Representative
Description

The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Department of Homeland Security, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.

This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Human Resources directorate and the HR Service Center in all functional areas of HR, to include benefits, compensation, employment, training and the HRIS.  Activities are varied and in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.   Responsibilities include though are not limited to HRIM data entry, recordkeeping and file maintenance, responding and tracking inquiries into the HR ServiceCenter (HRSC), and providing support for special projects. 

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provides support to all functional areas of HR, to include benefits, compensation, employment, training and HRIS activities.  Answers routine questions and calls through the HR Service Center, refers more complex issues to appropriate staff member.
  • Provides data entry support for benefits, compensation and/or new-hire employment data into HRIS, may verify data entered by other HR Assistants.
  • Maintains personnel files and keeps current with all necessary filing; ensures that applicable forms and instructions are kept timely and available.
  • Provides support to various Human Resources staff on special projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, relevant college coursework desired.
  • Three or more years of administrative experience in a fast-paced service-oriented team environment, preferably in a Human Resources department.
  • Excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and strong work ethic.  Ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner, exercising tact and diplomacy, with people at all levels; demonstrates initiative and willingness to perform duties.
  • Must be computer proficient (MS Office); and have demonstrated aptitude for routine mathematical and statistical applications as well as business correspondence; prior use of an HRIS system is desired.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearance.
