The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Department of Homeland Security, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.

We are seeking a talented new BA/BS to support the work of the PhD economists in the Strategy, Forces and Resources Division.  Prospective tasks include assisting in the preparation and analysis of very large personnel datasets.  Such data might be used to describe and assess the demands that have been placed on individuals by the ongoing military deployments.  Other uses include describing the behavior of military personnel when faced with choices to stay in or leave military service.  The work could also include the preparation of briefing materials based on such analyses.

• The ideal candidate should posses a bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics or statistics, proficiency with MS Office and good interpersonal and communication skills.  Familiarity with statistical and mathematical software such as SPSS, SAS, Stata or Matlab would be especially desirable.  The position is full-time, but consideration will also be given to graduate students willing to work part-time.
