Position:  Cost Research and Analysis - Various Positions
Description
The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.
Primary Responsibilities

Challenging career opportunities now exist at IDA in Cost Research and Analysis. Highly qualified individuals are sought, particularly self-starting professionals who can:

  • investigate the cost implications of advances in technology and related changes in manufacturing methods of defense systems,
  • conduct research into improved methods for estimating the costs of defense systems, both hardware and software,
  • conduct research on the defense acquisition process, examining alternatives,
  • apply the techniques of cost and economic analysis, including current cost estimating methods, and
  • conduct research to improve defense resource management and its supporting information system, the Future Years Defense Plan (FYDP).
Requirements
  • Openings exist for individuals with advanced degrees in engineering, operations research, economics, or accounting. Ph.D. preferred
  • Prior work experience is a plus
  • Candidates with extensive direct experience in areas listed above plus one or more technical Master's degrees will be considered
  • Entry level (B.S./B.A.) positions are available. Majors may be engineering, operations research, economics, mathematics, or the physical sciences; computer skills are desirable.
