Position:  Analyst, Undersea Warfare
Description
The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.
Primary Responsibilities
A challenging career opportunity now exists in our Operational Evaluation Division (OED) at IDA for individuals interested in analyzing the design, execution, and results of operational tests of naval undersea warfare systems. The position requires strong technical skills as well as the ability to speak and write effectively, think analytically, and work independently. Some travel is involved to attend meetings and observe testing.
Requirements
  • Candidates should have an advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in a physical science, applied mathematics, or an engineering discipline with relevance to the analysis of undersea warfare systems (e.g., sensors, acoustics, processors, weapons).
  • Shipboard experience in Navy submarine operations is a significant plus.
  • Experience in experiment/test design and data analysis is desirable, and specific work with military or similarly complex systems is a plus.

IDA offers a competitive salary; an enviable benefits package, and a superior professional environment in a park-like setting. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship is required.
