The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.

Challenging career opportunities now exist in our Operational Evaluation Division (OED) at IDA for individuals interested in analyzing the design, execution and results of operational tests of naval surface combatants.

The position requires strong technical skills as well as the ability to speak and write effectively, think analytically, and work independently.

Candidates should have an advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in a physical science, applied mathematics, or an engineering discipline with relevance to the analysis of shipboard combat systems, e.g., sensors, processors, weapons.

Shipboard experience in Navy cruiser/destroyer and/or carrier operations is a significant plus.

Also, experience in the testing or analysis of testing of military systems is a plus.
