The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Department of Homeland Security, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.

A challenging career opportunity now exists in our Operational Evaluation Division (OED) for an individual interested in analyzing the design, execution and results of operational tests of Army helicopters and other Land Warfare systems, such as unmanned aerial vehicles and precision munitions.  There is an opportunity to travel to observe the testing of these systems.

• The position requires strong technical skills as well as the ability to speak and write effectively, think analytically, and work independently.

• Candidates should have an advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in a physical science, applied mathematics, operations research, or an engineering discipline with relevance to the analysis of land combat systems, operations, and testing.
• Operational experience with Army/Marine Corps helicopter systems or other Land Warfare systems is a significant plus.
• Also, experience in experiment/test design and data analysis of military or similarly complex systems is a plus.
